These are the terms on which your coffee shop joins Plugg Local. If you have any questions, email partners@plugg.in before you accept.
1. Who this agreement is between
Plugg means Plugg Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16645551, registered office 1d Zetland House, 5-25 Scrutton St, London, United Kingdom, EC2A 4HJ), which operates the Plugg app and platform at plugg.in.
You or the Shop means the business named in the Plugg Local signup form, trading from the location(s) listed in that form.
Members means people who hold a Plugg account and have completed Plugg's age and identity verification.
How you accept. You accept these terms by completing the Plugg Local signup form and ticking the confirmation boxes at the end of it. Ticking those boxes has the same effect as signing. Plugg keeps a record of your form answers, the version of these terms you accepted, and the date and time of acceptance, and will email you a copy.
2. The offer you agree to honour
For verified Members who redeem in-app at the till, you will:
- Thursdays: sell standard hot drinks and cold drinks at £2.00 each (including VAT), all day during your opening hours.
- Every other day: give 20% off drinks.
The following apply to both parts of the offer:
- One redemption per Member per day at your Shop. The app enforces this; you do not need to track it.
- The offer covers drinks only. Food, retail items (beans, merchandise) and any premium add-ons you choose to exclude are at full price. If you exclude anything (for example oat milk surcharges or specialty pours), list it in the signup form so we can show it in the app.
- "Standard" drinks means your regular menu drinks in your regular sizes. You are not required to apply the £2 price to oversized or limited-edition items, provided you tell us what is excluded.
- The offer cannot be combined with other discounts or loyalty stamps unless you choose to allow it.
- The offer is for the Member's own consumption. You may refuse a redemption you reasonably believe is being abused (for example, one person redeeming for a group).
You fund the discount. Plugg does not reimburse you for it and does not take any commission or fee from you.
3. How redemption works at the till
- The Member finds your Shop in the Plugg app and opens your deal screen.
- In front of your barista, the Member swipes the redemption bar on the deal screen. The screen changes to a confirmed "redeemed" state showing the offer, the date and time, and a live indicator that cannot be reproduced by a screenshot.
- Your barista checks the screen and rings in the Thursday price or 20% discount.
Nothing to install, no hardware, no codes, no integration with your till. A redemption that has been swiped cannot be reused that day. If a Member shows you a screenshot, a static image or an unswiped screen, you are entitled to refuse the discount.
Plugg will send you a short staff guide and till card. You agree to brief your team so the offer is honoured consistently, including by new or temporary staff.
4. What Plugg provides, free of charge
- Listing: a Shop page in the Plugg app with your name, address, photos, opening hours and the offer.
- Nearby placement: your Shop pinned on the Plugg Nearby map, visible to verified Members around you, with the Thursday offer highlighted on the day.
- Launch marketing: Plugg will promote Plugg Local to Members through its own channels, which may include creator content, paid social, PR and in-app placement. Plugg decides the content, channels and timing. Plugg does not commit to any specific spend on, or number of features of, your individual Shop.
- Insights: periodic aggregated, anonymised insights about Member activity around and at your Shop (for example, redemption volumes and repeat rates). Plugg will never share any individual Member's personal data with you.
- Window kit: a printed window decal, till card and staff guide, posted to your Shop, with a QR code unique to your location.
There is no joining fee, no subscription, no commission and no minimum term. Plugg makes its money from national brand partners, not from local shops.
5. Your responsibilities
- Honour the offer as described in section 2 during all your opening hours, at every location listed in your signup form.
- Display the window decal and till card where customers can see them.
- Keep your listing accurate. Tell us within 7 days if your opening hours, address, ownership or contact details change, or if you close temporarily for more than a week.
- Comply with all laws that apply to your business, including food hygiene, pricing display and consumer protection law. You remain solely responsible for the products you sell and the service you give.
- Treat Members courteously and fairly. Plugg may investigate credible Member complaints about a Shop and may pause a listing while it does so.
- Do not describe yourself as being endorsed by, partnered with or exclusive to Plugg beyond "a Plugg Local partner", and do not use Plugg's name or logo except as supplied in the kit or approved by us in writing.
6. Independence and eligibility
Plugg Local is for independent coffee shops. By accepting you confirm that the Shop is not a national chain or a franchise of one, and that you have authority to bind the business named in the signup form. If the Shop is sold, or becomes part of a chain or franchise, tell us; we may end this agreement on notice under section 9.
7. Use of your name, images and content
You give Plugg a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use the Shop's trading name, logo, address, and the photographs and descriptions you supply or approve, in the Plugg app and in Plugg's marketing of Plugg Local, for as long as this agreement lasts and for a reasonable wind-down period of up to 90 days afterwards. You confirm you have the right to grant this.
Plugg and its creators may film or photograph inside and outside the Shop for Plugg Local content. We will always ask before filming inside. You may ask us to take down any specific piece of content that features your Shop and we will do so within 14 days where it is within our control.
8. Data protection
- Plugg is the data controller for all Member data. You will not receive any Member personal data under this agreement, and you must not attempt to collect it at the till (for example by asking Members to write down details in exchange for the offer).
- Plugg processes the business contact details you give us in the signup form (name, role, email, phone, Instagram handle) to run Plugg Local, under Plugg's privacy notice at Privacy Notice.
- Insights shared with you are aggregated and anonymised. You must not attempt to re-identify any individual from them.
- If you take photographs of customers for your own social media, that is your responsibility, not Plugg's.
9. Term, changes and ending the agreement
- This agreement starts when you submit the signup form with the confirmation boxes ticked, and continues on a rolling basis until ended.
- Either side can end it for any reason with 30 days' written notice (email is fine). During the notice period you continue to honour the offer and we continue to list you.
- Plugg may end the agreement immediately, or pause your listing, if you repeatedly fail to honour the offer, if you bring Plugg into disrepute, or if you breach sections 5, 6 or 8.
- Plugg may change the offer mechanics (for example the day, the price or the percentage) or these terms by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. If you do not want to continue on the changed terms, you may end the agreement before they take effect and nothing further is owed either way.
- Plugg may end or pause Plugg Local as a programme in a city or nationally on 30 days' notice.
- When the agreement ends, we remove your listing (within 7 days, and always by the end of the notice period), the licence in section 7 winds down, and you remove the Plugg window kit. Any redemption swiped before the listing is removed should still be honoured.
10. Liability
- Plugg provides the app, the listing and the marketing "as is". We do not guarantee any level of footfall, redemptions, sales or new customers, and we are not liable if the app is unavailable.
- Neither side is liable to the other for loss of profit, loss of business or indirect loss.
- Each side's total liability to the other under this agreement in any 12-month period is capped at £1,000, except for liability that by law cannot be limited (such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud), and except for your liability for any claim arising from products or service you provide to Members.
- You are responsible for the drinks you serve and for your premises. Plugg is not party to any sale between you and a Member.
11. General
- This is the whole agreement between us about Plugg Local. It replaces anything said in outreach calls, messages or emails.
- We are independent businesses. Nothing here creates a partnership in the legal sense, an agency or an employment relationship, and neither side can bind the other.
- Neither side may transfer this agreement without the other's consent, except that Plugg may transfer it to a company in the same group.
- Notices go to the email address you gave in the signup form (for Plugg, partners@plugg.in).
- If a court finds any clause unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
